Primorsky State Museum named after VK Arsenyev opens the exhibition "Faith. Hope. Manchuria. Russian Old Believers in the photos of the Japanese scientist Yamadzoe Saburo. 1938-1941."
Exhibition presents a unique collection of photographs from the archives of the museum. In pictures - Russian Old Believer village Romanovka that emerged in the middle of Manchuria, near the line of the Chinese Eastern Railway (CER). Farmers-conservatives, who fled in the early 1930s from the Soviet collectivization of Primorye and repression, gave him the name in memory of the Russian imperial family and lived, firmly keeping the foundations of faith and hope that now fate has given them a chance for a peaceful and dignified life. Noteworthy that just three years Romanovka, founded in 1936 m, has a thriving village.
Made these shots Japanese scientist biochemist Yamadzoe Saburo (1908-2007). In the 1930s and early 1940s, researchers from the Tokyo Institute of Territorial Development (which will be served Yamadzoe Saburo) studied the experience of successful survival of Russian in their new Manchu conditions.
These photos as a reminder of Romanovka long kept biologist Professor H. Saburo and shortly before his death, gave them to the Tokyo-known Professor Nakamura-slavyanistu Esikadzu. Who in turn handed them over to the Seaside State Museum named after VK Arsenyev.
In photos related to the pre-war years 1938-1941. and saved by a Japanese scientist H. Memories of the villagers commented at the exhibition photos.
