To build a coal transshipping complex is planned on the territory of previously owned Slavic Shiprepair plant. The terminal has an area of 290 thousand square meters. At the first stage coal transshipment complex is designed for transshipment of 25 million tons of coal a year, and at the second stage — not less than 8.5 million. Once, on the territory of the complex will keep four grades of coal in total 175 thousand tons at the first stage. Given that the port of Slavyanka doesn\’t freeze, it is supposed to work year-round complex. Taking into account the specificity of the project, the developers promise to implement a wide range of environmental measures — application of systems for dust suppression on all the sections of the discharge, using tools and technologies to prevent dust formation and congelation coal, installation dustproof and wind-proof barriers and dust collection systems. The project will create in the village of Slavyanka more than 180 new jobs in the first stage and up to 480 — on the second. The expected economic effect of the steady growth of the income of the local budget, employment, and, consequently, increase the profitability of other directions of microeconomics. Experts have welcomed the project, however, taking into account its public resonance, it was decided to submit it for consideration of the public expert Council on environmental security, environmental conservation and reproduction of biological resources of Primorsky province.
