August 15 at 1600 in the Maritime State United Museum named after VK Arsenyev at st. 20 Svetlanskaya will open the exhibition "Beauty Crafts Tohoku region, Japan" with the support of the Consulate General of Japan in Vladivostok. The exhibition will present works of various genres - ceramics, lacquered ware, textiles, wood and bamboo products, metal products, etc. This exhibition will not only feel the cultural mood and spirit of Tohoku, but also the great pleasure lovers of subtle arts of Japan. In addition to the subjects of craft genres, the exhibition presents the works of artists inspired by the beauty of handicraft skills. Works included in the exhibition, provide an opportunity to re-open a high level of traditional craft techniques, nurtured in the Tohoku region and the functional beauty of everyday supplies used since ancient times in Japan. The art and craft of these studies also help us to better understand the wisdom of the people who lived close to nature, manual skills and dexterity, cultivated by this wisdom. For reference: At the beginning of XX-th century Soetsu Yanagi, founder of the Ming was fascinated by the beauty of the craft during his trip to the Tohoku region, and began to collect the dishes and equipment found during his visits. Other influential members of the movement, such as potters Kandziro Kawai and Shoji Hamada, a textile designer Keysuke Serizawa and leading master prints Shiko Munakata, were also deeply impressed by the craft in Tohoku.
