Premier Medvedev: my idea of offshoring in the Far East was not the flash of emotion

The proposal to establish an offshore zone in the Far East was not an emotional response to what is happening in the eurozone. The Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

«We have this issue not just popped up, this is not an emotional response to some specific processes that occur in the euro area, this is the question that needs to count and look at its pros and the very substantial costs,» — Medvedev said at a meeting of the State Commission on the socio-economic development of the Far East and Trans-Baikal.

As already reported IA Primore24 in March Medvedev has proposed to consider the creation of Russia\’s own offshore company in the Far East.

«If there is such passion (in Cyprus) simmer, can think, can we create some kind of zone in the Far East. We have a lot of good places — Sakhalin, the Kuril Islands » — Said the head of the government.

This idea was critically appreciated by many economists in Russia, but was supported by the party «United Russia», which is headed Medvedev.
