On the international transport corridor connecting the south of Primorye with the Chinese province of Jilin, was sent to the first freight train through a railway border crossing point Makhalino (RF) - Hunchun (China). As a part of - 30 cars loaded with coal for the consignees of the Middle Kingdom. On this occasion, in the border station Reed (Far Eastern Railway) held a solemn meeting. Its participants were the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Alexei Tsydenov, Deputy Minister for Development of the Far East Yuri Onopriyenko, senior vice-president of JSC "Russian Railways" Anatoly Krasnoshchek, the first deputy head of the Far Eastern Railway Alexei Gladilin, vice-governor of Primorye Territory Sergey Sidorov and more about a hundred representatives of government and business communities of Russia, China, Mongolia, Republic of Korea - Members of the Greater Tumen Initiative (RTI). Guests underscored the critical importance of this event for the development of the national transport system. According to Alexei Tsydenova, starting Makhalino border crossing - Hunchun will not only expand economic ties with Jilin province of Primorye, but in the long term and become a reliable transit bridge between Europe and Asia. According to Russian and foreign experts, the total volume of traffic through this transition can reach 8 million tons of cargo a year, including 4.5 million tons of export and import 3.5 million tons of cargo. Reference: Border crossing Makhalino (RF) - Hunchun (China) was created as part of the international transport corridor "Primorye-2" for the transportation of goods in transit from Asia Pacific in the direction of the Eastern provinces of China and back. Design capacity - 3000000 tons of cargo a year. At the first stage it is planned to carry out transportation of export coal and ore in the amount of 2 million tons per year. Besides the border crossing, within the boundaries of the Far Eastern Railways operate two more: Grodekovo (RF) - Suifenhe (PRC) and Hasan (RF) - Tuman (DPRK).
