The average price of grain in Russia renewed a five-year maximum. This was in a room on April 1 the newspaper "Vedomosti", with reference to the materials of Rosstat and market participants.

According to Rosstat, the beginning of the year the price of wheat bread rose by 4.5 percent, while rye and rye-wheat bread - by 4.7 percent. Thus for the three weeks of March bread rose by 1.2-1.5 percent.

Compared to March of the previous year cost of bread has risen by 18-20 per cent. Now kilograms of rye bread in the national average is 3312 rubles against 2824 rubles a year ago, and white - 3512 rubles against 29.6 rubles. By comparison, consumer prices in the past year was 6.6 percent.

In the past five years the bread rose in price at a slower pace, with an average ruble per year. The main reason for the sharp rise in prices for bread in 2012-2013 is to increase the selling prices of flour, which was caused by the drought in agricultural regions of Russia. Over the past year the price of flour has increased by 40 percent, and grain - by 70 percent.

At the end of February 2013 the price of corn, which grew for the past year, have started to decline. In 2012 the cost of grain repeatedly updated historic highs, and the peak value of grain traded by 90-100 percent more than at the beginning of the year.

Drought in southern Russia, killing part of crops, it took the intervention of the state. In particular, the authorities have decided to provide financial assistance to farmers and start selling from the state intervention fund. It is assumed that by the summer of 2013 the fund almost empty: the authorities are going in July to sell almost three million tons of grain, and the fund will be only three hundred thousand tons.
