MP from the «Just Russia» Oleg Nilov introduced a bill providing for the introduction of compulsory labor for violators of migration laws.
The document provides for amendments to the Code of Administrative Offences, which will apply to the illegal sentence of compulsory work for a period of 120 to 200 hours. Of Corrections offenders should be deported from Russia.
As noted in a memorandum Nilov, the deportation of illegal immigrants entails costs from the budget, and therefore the required work can be seen as a means to recover these costs. The note also highlights the need for more effective mechanisms of migration control in connection with the number of violations of immigration laws.
As published in 2012 the Federal Migration Service, in Russia there are about three million illegal immigrants. The vast majority of them are citizens of Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Tajikistan, which, in accordance with Russian legislation, can stay in Russia for a period of three months.
