He died in Italy in June 1944 shortly after her birth, so she never saw him again. Shortly before his death, his daughter Eddington wrote a three-page letter, which, however, did not reach the addressee. About fourteen years ago, a resident of the State of Missouri found a letter while cleaning the house of his relatives. Channel does not specify how this letter got into the house. On Saturday in Dayton, Nevada, hosted a special ceremony during which Eddington Smith were handed a letter to her father as well as his medal, «Purple Heart», which is awarded by American soldiers who died or were wounded in battle.
