Chapter Minvostokrazvitiya Russia on August 16 held a workshop on the development of electric power, which discussed the future development of the electricity industry of the Far East and the Baikal region until 2025. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Energy of Russia, JSC «RusHydro», JSC «System Operator», JSC «Russian network», JSC «RAO Energy System of East», Minvostokrazvitiya experts and the staff of the Russian Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District. Electroenergetics urged to accurately calculate the needs of the economy ET in electricity and called for closer working with electric power consumers. They also discussed the current major problems, such as wear of electrical equipment, the outflow of qualified personnel, the development of transport and industrial centers and regions. Physical deterioration of plants of JSC «RAO Energy System of East» to date was 61.3%, electric network — 63.7%, electrical substations — 67.2%. More than 50% of the generating equipment has fulfilled its statutory life. Require replacement of 20% of the turbines, boilers 21% and 17% of electrical networks and 28% of the heat. Existing generation capacity in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the south of Primorye can not provide a promising growth in electricity consumption. A major problem is also the outflow of qualified personnel, what has caused the increase in the number of equipment failures. The meeting noted the need to develop electric power complex of the Far East for the implementation of economic development projects, such as: «Integrated Development of South Yakutia», transport and industrial hub Vanino-Sovetskaya Gavan, the development of the Yana-Kolyma gold province, and Chaun-Bilibnskoy industrial zone . Strategically necessary to upgrade the Trans-Siberian Railway and to increase the capacity of BAM.
