New unusual touch in the direction of the «Fine Arts» 8th Vladivostok Biennale of Visual Arts will be an exhibition of embroidery «The Great East Japan Earthquake — a reflection of the tragedy in the art of embroidery.» As RIA «VladNews» the press service of the city administration, the opening of the exhibition will take place on August 23 at 11:00 in the Primorsky regional center of folk culture (Pushkinskaya 25). The works reflect the woes hit by the Japanese disaster, will present the artist embroidery, Professor Emeritus of Showa Women\’s University in Tokyo — Hiroki Amano. Embroidery is made based on newspaper articles related to the accident at the «Fukushima 1» from the earthquake March 112011. The works reflect the grief of victims and their loved ones, have become the basis of reportage photography and personal impressions of the author. Perhaps, this kind of art in the age of digital technology seems outdated to modern man. I decided that people should remember this. After collecting photos from the scene of the tragedy, I tried using embroidery to express the pain and sorrow of the people.
