on 28 June the Primorsky regional administration held a meeting of the working group on the problem of stray animals. As the press-service of the regional administration, a working group was formed at the end of the round table «Neglected animals: the ways and solutions», which took place in Vladivostok on June 19. Then it was organized by the initiative group of the residents of Vladivostok and one of the local information agencies. The roundtable was attended by the head of the state veterinary inspection of the Primorsky territory Dmitry Kuzin, seaside animal rights activists, deputies of the Legislative Assembly of Primorsky Krai and Vladivostok Duma, representatives of the veterinary and communal services responsible for catching orphan animals, city of Ministry of internal Affairs, Rospotrebnadzor and other state agencies. They have created a working group whose task is to finalize the draft law on stray animals, or to develop a new bill which will take into account the opinions of the animal protection activists, dog veterinary services and public organizations. At today's meeting the participants discussed the work procedure. It was decided that the working group will be divided into three separate groups, each of which will deal with a specific area of work. So, the first group will deal with issues such as development, public discussion and adoption of the rules for keeping dogs and cats in Primorye, prevent the breeding of animals, strategy WWS (catching, sterilization, partial return to the natural environment). The second group will undertake the development, public debate and the adoption of new rules of catching of homeless animals, the development and adoption of the draft shelter-keeping of homeless animals and support to the already existing shelters. The third group will work on the creation of the public organization where can enter all who are engaged in the problem of stray animals, and also will carry out preventive work with the population.
