XVII annual meeting of the Association of Pacific rim universities (APRU) will be held at the campus of the University on the Russky island from 27 to 29 June. As the press service of the far Eastern state University, at the meeting of the heads of the leading universities will discuss the directions of partnership in the sphere of education, science and innovations, as well as prospects of formation of a single University space of the Asia-Pacific region. In the framework of the forum of rectors of the APRU is scheduled the work of three sections devoted to the issues of the strategy of the APR countries in the sphere of development of higher education and variants of interaction of Association with APEC and the governments of the States of the region. It is expected that the annual meeting will be attended by more than 30 rectors and Vice rectors of the leading universities in the Asia-Pacific region. Main speakers in the discussion of issues on the agenda will be the leaders of the far Eastern Federal University, the University of Auckland, National University of Singapore, University of southern California, Peking University, University of Washington, Seoul national University and other participants APRU. In addition, in the framework of the forum from 25 to 27 June in the campus of the University will host a meeting of student leaders from universities APRU. The young delegates will work on joint international projects in the field of student self-government, volunteering, academic mobility, as well as on the initiative for creation of the youth Association of APRU. The results of its work, the students will present the rectors of universities APRU during a special meeting. Association of Pacific rim universities (Association of Pacific Rim Universities — APRU) was founded in 1997. One of the founders became the far Eastern state University (now the University). Today APRU unites 42 leading research University Asia Pacific from the USA, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan. Far Eastern Federal University is the sole representative of Russia in APRU.
