Vladimir Putin: Production of ice-breakers, high-tech ships have for our country's strategic importance

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting on the prospects of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, part of which is the Far East Center of Shipbuilding and Ship Repair. It was attended by Minister of Industry Denis Manturov, president of Rosneft, Igor Sechin and deputy chairman of Gazprom Valery Golubev.

- Production of ice-breakers, high-tech various vessels, drilling rigs and production platforms for our country is of strategic importance. This depends directly on Russia's broader presence in the Arctic and other regions of the World Ocean, the development of natural resources of the Far East and the North Sea, increased economic efficiency of oil and gas projects on the continental shelf, - Said during the opening remarks by Vladimir Putin. - Our company is highly interested in the quality of modern naval equipment for exploration and production of hydrocarbons, including - and I made that just said - on the shelf, in very difficult weather conditions. In this regard, I think that would be right for closer interaction between USC, Gazprom, Rosneft and our other national mining companies in order to form a clear plan of action to develop the necessary technology and marine equipment.

Vladimir Putin introduced a new head of the corporation - Vladimir Shmakov. He reported to the president, in what areas of focus state holding company.

- Special attention should be paid to project a modern universal shipbuilding industry on the basis of the factory "Star", which is the largest industrial facility under construction in Primorye. I plan to soon visit the largest enterprises of the corporation, cooperation partners and key customers to personally examine all of the problem and the urgent issues facing - Said Vladimir Shmakov.

Following the meeting, deputy head of the Industry and Trade Ministry Alexei Rakhmanov told reporters that "the major project of a new shipyard at USC offshore orders" will Shipbuilding complex "Star" in the Far East. Construction of the shipyard will be given special attention not only from corporate management, but also the state.
