The new medium multi-purpose helicopter Ka-62 («Orca») may make its first flight already on Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2013 which will take place at the end of the summer, the general director of JSC «Helicopters of Russia» Dmitry Petrov.
Arsenyev Aviation Company «Progress», which is planned to develop mass production of the Ka-62 already assembles the two prototypes — OP-01 and OP-02.

Development of Ka-62 began in 1992. The Ka-62 was designed as a multi-purpose civil modification of a military transport helicopter Ka-60 with preservation of the design features of the military model, including the RD-600. The full-size mock-up helicopter was first shown at MAKS-1995. Further development has been suspended due to lack of funds
In 2012 at HeliRussia 2012 the presentation of the layout of the Ka-62 which is an updated design of the helicopter. External circuit and the layout of the helicopter were retained, major changes have affected the chassis and engine compartment
Production is scheduled to deploy in factories holding «Helicopters of Russia»: Arsenyevsky on «Progress» plant (assembly) and Kumertau Aviation Production Enterprise (components and tail rotor).
