The new medium multi-purpose helicopter Ka-62 ("Orca") may make its first flight already on Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2013 which will take place at the end of the summer, the general director of JSC "Helicopters of Russia" Dmitry Petrov.

Development of Ka-62 began in 1992. The Ka-62 was designed as a multi-purpose civil modification of a military transport helicopter Ka-60 with preservation of the design features of the military model, including the RD-600.
