The Russian national team won the European football championship among boys no older than 17 years, according to ITAR-TASS.
In the final, held in the Slovakian Zilina, the Russians in the evening of Friday, May 17 met with the Italian team. Regular time ended in a draw (0-0), and in the penalty shoot-out players were more accurate the Russian team — 5:4.
In the semifinals, Russian Youth Championship team, coached by Dmitri Khomukha also beat his opponent, Sweden, in the penalty shoot-out — 10:9.
The previous time the Russian team won the European championship among juniors under 17 years old in 2006.
