Hong Kong Court allowed transsexuals to marry

The largest financial center of Asia — Hong Kong — was more progressive than the People\’s Republic of China as a whole. For the sake of marriage, a man with a transsexual Special Administrative Region Government will change the existing law.

Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal ruled that the current law is too rigid and «unconstitutional» for the two lovers, according to Russian Service BBC.

The Marriage Act, which acts on the territory of Hong Kong, permits to enter the union between a man and a woman. However, the judge ordered postponed by 12 months of entry into force of the court decision that the government can make changes to existing legislation. Four of the five judges supported the decision of the court, one voted against.

Relation to same-sex marriage in China continues to be negative, although the brutality against the LGBT community — it\’s rare for China, where remains a certain level of tolerance towards homosexuals. This attitude, in turn, is associated with one of the major religions in this country, Confucianism, which does not judge the relationship between persons of the same sex. Some sources even claim that the relationship between men in the past were all the rage in China, according to Euronews.

Some same-sex marriages already concluded publicly in China, although officially such a ceremony is not legally binding. In October 2012 in East China\’s Fujian Province held a public wedding 24-year-old man Lu Zhong and 20-year-old boy Liu Wan-Qiang. The wedding was preceded by a public ceremony again engagement between men, which they spent in Guangdong Province during the holiday Qi-si, the Chinese counterpart of the holiday Valentine\’s Day or Saint Valentine\’s Day, reports Melanidy.ru.

Homosexuality is not a crime in China since 1997 and since 2001 in the list of mental illnesses is not an appropriate diagnosis.
