Orthodox Christians celebrate Good Friday 3 May — the most sorrowful day of the church calendar, when taken to remember the suffering of the cross and death of the Savior\’s earthly.
No wonder that in this day of Holy Week post is particularly severe: according to church canons, are not supposed to eat nothing but bread and water.
According to ancient tradition, on Good Friday in churches to worship the Shroud, which bring to the middle of the church, leave there, surrounded by white flowers, read over it and sing gospel funeral chants.
On Friday, Patriarch Kirill celebrated in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, Vespers and Matins and the removal of the shroud with the rank of Christ\’s burial, Interfax .
Adoration of the Shroud lasts for two days — until late Saturday evening, and a few minutes before the Easter procession make it back to the altar.
