In Khabarovsk, held 68-kilometer swim in the icy water

May 5 in the city of Khabarovsk held a combined 68-kilometer swim along the Amur River, devoted to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

The event is an initiative of inter-regional public organization of veterans of the Eastern Military District with the support of the commander Admiral Konstantin Sidenko TSB and the municipal administration of the Khabarovsk region.

In the swim in ice cold water will bring together over 20 athletes from Khabarovsk, Blagoveshchensk, bikini, Komsomolsk-on-Amur. The youngest competitor, Alexander Golubkina, 13 years old, the age, Vladimir Litvinov — 64.

Swimmers will start at 10:00 from the Lenin Stadium in Khabarovsk and plan to finish in 2000 Vjatskom village, breaking the 68 kilometers in the icy waters of the Amur. The distance was not chosen randomly and symbolizes the 68th anniversary of the Great Victory.

This event will mark another step in preparation for the international intercontinental the relay swim across the Bering Strait, which is scheduled for early August of this year. In a unique Russian-American project «Chukotka — Alaska» will be attended by 40 swimmers from more than 10 countries worldwide.
