Russian Prosecutor General\’s Office has set up all-Russian database of persons who are registered in clinics with diagnoses of «alcoholism» and «addiction.» Need is especially traffic police, which often give the right to drive a car so dangerous drivers.
By law, alcoholics and drug addicts can not control the car. However, in his annual report to the Federation Council, Russian Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika said that «only in the last two years we have referred to the courts of more than 40000 claims with the requirements for invalidation of the rights granted by patients with alcoholism and drug addiction.»
According to him, access to such a database would allow traffic police to deny a permit, it can be claimed and other agencies when issuing permits.
Chaika said that «Last year will be remembered succession of tragedies on the roads, including those caused by poor condition of the highways of the country, as well as those caused by drunk drivers.»
